Event
Bosideng hosts a Polar Launch Event in Harbin, where the Extreme Cold Series supports China’s Arctic and Antarctic scientific expeditions.

“Wherever the limits of human exploration are pushed, from the summit of Mount Everest to the farthest poles, that is where Bosideng's compass of technological innovation points.” —Gao Dekang, founder of Bosideng, at the Polar Launch Event in Sun Island, Harbin.

In 1984, China’s Antarctic expedition team planted the Five-Star Red Flag on the Antarctic continent for the first time. In 1998, Bosideng first accompanied a Chinese Antarctic expedition to the polar regions. Since then, the warmth of Bosideng has never been absent from the ends of the Earth. Twenty-seven years later, Harbin—the city of ice and snow where Bosideng held the Polar Launch Event—witnessed Bosideng once again conveying its "warmth" to the public.

On December 7, a launch event with the core theme of "Life Meets the Polar Extremes" was held in Sun Island, Harbin. Distinguished guests in attendance included Yan Honglei, Member of the Standing Committee of the Harbin Municipal Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Harbin New Area Party Working Committee, Secretary of the Pingfang District Committee, and Secretary of the Harbin Economic and Technological Development Zone Party Working Committee; Lan Feng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Harbin Municipal Committee and Head of the Municipal Publicity Department; Wang Bo, Vice Mayor of Harbin Municipal Government; Kong Qingbin, Chairman of the Madieer Tourism and Culture Investment Group; Gao Dekang, Founder, Chairman of the Board, and President of the Bosideng Group; Wang Hailang, Polar Expedition Expert; Mi Lan, General Manager of Tmall Apparel Industry; Bosideng brand ambassadors Yu Shi and Sun Yizhou. Since 1999, when its products first appeared on the “Xue Long,” Bosideng has consistently supported multiple Chinese expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica, as well as ascents of Mount Everest, safeguarding team members with world-leading thermal technology and functional materials.

The 6th generation of the Extreme Polar Cold Series, unveiled at this launch, is the same gear used in China’s Antarctic and Arctic expeditions. The series incorporates Bosideng’s Dynamic Thermal Protection Technology 2.0, featuring a triple-layer warmth technology system: "GORE-TEX lightweight fabric, polar bear-inspired 3D down chambers, and Antarctic shark-gill ventilation system." The outer GORE-TEX fabric withstands Force 8 winds. The middle layer features an exclusive down-filled structure mimicking the subcutaneous fat arrangement of polar bears, combined with far-infrared materials for lasting heat retention. The inner layer provides careful protection, with patented weight-reduction technology reducing the garment’s weight by up to 500g and improving the warmth-to-weight ratio by 10%. The exclusive Antarctic shark-gill dynamic moisture-release system increases breathability by 15%.

The series' efficiency in moisture release during activity and its firm locking in of warmth when stationary solves the industry problem of feeling warm while moving and cold while standing still in polar environments. Its ability to withstand extreme cold down to -60°C creates a constant-temperature microclimate within the garment.

This ultimate product, integrating warmth, lightness, and breathability, represents both the culmination of Bosideng’s 28 years of polar exploration experience and the concrete manifestation of Bosideng’s original aspiration. Gao Dekang, founder of Bosideng, said he was inspired to create a down jacket capable of withstanding the conditions at the summit of Mount Everest after reading a report about the Chinese Mountaineering Team reaching the peak with domestically made gear in 1975. For nearly half a century, the commitment of Bosideng to its core business of down jackets has been unwavering, with continuous enhancement of product quality through technological advancements.

(Chinese Polar Expedition Expert Wang Hailang)

During the launch event, Chinese polar expedition expert Wang Hailang shared at the "Life Meets the Polar Extremes" forum: “Bosideng has a long history of supporting scientific expeditions, dating back to its participation in the 1998 Chinese Arctic Expedition and our subsequent two-decade collaboration. Antarctic expeditions require gear that is lightweight, not bulky; breathable, not stuffy; and capable of locking in warmth in extreme cold. None of these hardcore requirements have been able to stop Bosideng. Bosideng's professional design transforms the 'impossible' into the 'wearable with confidence,' providing expedition members with reliable warmth amidst ice and snow."

(Bosideng Brand Ambassador Sun Yizhou)

Bosideng Brand Ambassador Sun Yizhou also shared his understanding of "Life Meets the Polar Extremes" at the forum. He candidly stated that, in his acting career, fixed character labels and comfort zones are the "wind and snow" that must be crossed, using the "moment of fear" from challenging a via ferrata in the show "Young and Uncle Meet Here" as a metaphor. He believes that true breakthroughs stem from persistent, in-depth cultivation and that an actor's professionalism entails breaking free from labels and setting one's own pace. This belief aligns with Bosideng's commitment to craftsmanship, as it has specialized in down jackets and perfected thermal protection technology for 49 years. Only by taking root can one reach the "extremes."

(Bosideng Brand Ambassador Yu Shi)

Bosideng brand ambassador Yu Shi, drawing from his multiple roles as an actor, singer, and equestrian archery athlete, suggested that the "Life Meets the Polar Extremes" theme is about staying true to one's authentic self. He described exploring different identities as journeying through various polar regions, a process that necessitates shedding external labels and following one's inner voice. Bosideng’s Dynamic Thermal Protection Technology, with its ability to adapt to different environmental conditions, corresponds to the flexibility needed for people to explore the “polar extremes” of their own lives. It protects the body while encouraging the pursuit of staying true to one’s original aspirations.

Twin-Pronged Layout of R&D and Industry: Fortified Core Technological Barrier in Thermal Protection

To make professional extreme polar cold technology more accessible to consumers, Bosideng continues to deepen its twin-pronged layout of R&D and industry, building on the foundation of professional demands in polar exploration.

In 2024, Bosideng partnered with Harbin to create the "Erbin" brand. The smart factory, located in the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base of the Harbin Economic and Technological Development Zone, took merely 68 days from start to full operation, setting a new "Harbin speed." This factory, centered on a self-developed intelligent manufacturing system, integrates the entire industry chain from raw materials, R&D, and design to production, and enables full-process traceability from down to finished products. At full capacity, the factory can produce 300,000 units and 1,000 tons of 90% white goose down annually, providing substantial support for the mass production of cutting-edge polar technology products.

With regard to quality control, Bosideng acquires its down from select producing regions in China, Poland, and Hungary, bearing certifications from Bluesign® and RDS, in addition to adherence to animal welfare standards and green production principles. Each down jacket undergoes over 150 meticulous processes and contains no less than 90% down, showcasing Chinese craftsmanship and stringent standards.

Bosideng's integration with Harbin, both industrially and culturally, was further deepened on December 7 by the completion of its Summit Flagship Store in Central Street, Harbin, and the hosting of the Polar Launch Event in Sun Island. The official launch of the Extreme Polar Cold Series, equipped with the latest Dynamic Thermal Protection Technology 2.0, seamlessly blends expedition-grade protective functionality with a modern aesthetic design. This series strikes a balance between warmth and style, further solidifying Bosideng's status as a polar symbol of "China's Innovative Aesthetics" on the global stage. This is not merely the zenith of Bosideng's 28 years of polar exploration, but also a tangible affirmation of its provision of professional-grade protection to every consumer, founded upon a robust industrial foundation.

Steady advancement was seen in the Bosideng brand value in 2025, with the company ranking 45th on the Brand Finance Apparel 50. Meanwhile, Bosideng's position rose to 260th in the Asia's 500 Most Influential Brands in 2025 released by World Brand Lab.

While maintaining its primary focus on down jackets and functional fashion, Bosideng is pursuing continuous expansion into segmented markets through diversified layouts, facing differentiated competition in the international market. This demonstrates Bosideng's firm aspiration to lead the way in exploring the "extremes of mission" and the "extremes of expertise."

Song E, head of the Bosideng Extreme Cold Series, believes that: "Inspiration often comes from the most challenging environments. In the test of -60°C, what inventors want is the lowest possible temperature, and the greatest strength of the human heart. The ultimate goal of design is not merely protection against cold, but warmth for people.”

Life Meets the Polar Extremes: Warm Springs from Conviction

“Bosideng's warmth and protection are available wherever the limits of human exploration are pushed, such as with China's polar expedition teams in the Antarctic and Arctic. The new Extreme Polar Cold Series is a prime example, able to withstand temperatures down to -60°C. "True surpassing is not about outdoing others; it's about outdoing your former self." Gao Dekang's portrayal of Bosideng's spirit in the "Life Meets the Polar Extremes" forum illustrates Bosideng's mission of "creating warmth." This warmth is rooted in exploring extreme cold and polar regions and, more importantly, stems from the innovative perseverance to constantly surpass oneself.

(Bosideng Founder Gao Dekang Sharing at the "Life Meets the Polar Extremes" Forum)

For nearly half a century, the pursuit of “ultimate" has been a constant for Bosideng, with continuous breakthroughs in the realm of thermal protection technology. The commitment to making "Made in China" the ultimate answer for thermal protection worldwide is unwavering.

In December 2025, a hundred entrepreneurs boarded the Zhenghe Island vessel, along with Bosideng, for a journey to the Antarctic. The promotional short film poses a thought-provoking question: "What is ultimate?"

Ren Hongjun, Chairman of Hanwei Electronics Group Corporation, answers that it is boundless pursuit. Zong Runfu, founder of KINGSEMI Co., Ltd., believes it is the pursuit of both product and enterprise.

Meanwhile, Kazuo Inamori, the "God of Management" from Japan, has long provided an answer: "Focus single-mindedly on one line of work or one industry. Immerse yourself without boredom or irritation and work hard. Your life will then bloom with beautiful flowers and bear abundant fruit."

The answer to ultimate differs for everyone. For Bosideng, however, the polar extremes are not the end; they are merely stepping stones to greater aspirations. From support for polar expeditions to the empowerment of everyday thermal protection, and from technological R&D to industrial upgrading, Bosideng has a consistent conveyance of the warmth and craftsmanship of a Chinese brand to the world, believing that "Bosideng stands as a monument to the passion of a team dedicated to one mission: the perfection of down apparel for the purpose of global warming." This is Bosideng's answer to the question of "ultimate."
